•     The deterioration of Italian business environment makes an accelerated reorganisation necessary – in line with TNT Express’ overall Deliver! improvement programme

•     Plans will increase efficiency of Italian operations to secure long-term market leadership

•     Changes expected to result in a reduction of around 850 positions

TNT Express today announces the reorganisation plan for its Italian Business Unit. This plan reflects the need to adapt the company’s Italian operations to the harsh economic environment and is in line with TNT Express’ overall Deliver! improvement programme.

The difficult economic circumstances and trading conditions in Italy require TNT Express to implement significant measures to increase productivity and reduce costs. The goal is to secure TNT Express’ long-term market-leading position in Italy.

TNT Express plans to reorganise its overhead and supporting activities and to combine its smaller Italian operations into larger depots at strategic locations throughout the country. Around 20 facilities across Italy will be affected, but service levels and full network connectivity will be maintained.

As part of its Deliver! improvement programme, the company will also invest in depot sorting and IT and enhance customer experience through better customer-facing and operational processes.

TNT Express employs about 3,000 people in Italy. Around 850 positions at all levels of the organisation will be reduced by the planned reorganisation.
