    –  TNT has safely transported 445 valuable artefacts from Bucharest to Beijing, where they will be featured in the exhibition “Treasures of Romania”. The precious objects will be displayed at the National Museum of China from 29 January until 8 May 2016, then travel to the Sichuan Province Museum in Chengdu for another three-month show.

TNT’s Special Services team in Romania worked with The National History Museum of Romania and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange the transport’s special requirements. The objects travelled via a direct, dedicated 10-hour flight, and TNT provided around-the-clock assistance and particularly high security. The People Network will transport the objects back to Romania after the exhibitions.

The pieces – which include stoneware, ceramics, gold and silver ware, glass ware, wooden ware, mural paintings, manuscripts and textiles – were gathered from different museums across Romania. They provide a panoramic view of the achievements of the Romanian nation from it pre-historical civilization to early modern culture.

“These are some of our country’s most precious objects,” says Ciprian Popescu, Special Services Manager, TNT Romania. “They were crafted by skilled hands during thirty millenniums of Romanian history. We’re proud to support their journey to China.”

    Olga Kurylenko in The Correspondence

14 January 2016 –  TNT has played a part in Giuseppe Tornatore's latest film The Correspondence, which releases today in Italy. The film stars Olga Kurylenko (see picture) and Jeremy Irons. The music is by Ennio Morricone. The Correspondence was shot last summer partly in Italy and partly in the UK. Behind the scenes, TNT transported large quantities of studio equipment and costumes between shooting locations. The job was carried out by TNT’s 'special services' team under strict time constraints.

As the film’s name suggests, private correspondence, but also drivers and vans are not absent from the script. A sequence was shot at TNT’s facility in Trento, Italy. Another scene features a typical orange TNT van in a street of York.
"We are proud to have contributed to Giuseppe Tornatore’s new film,” said Christophe Boustouller, Managing Director, TNT Italy. “It is a great satisfaction for us that one of our facilities was chosen as a setting. There was a natural convergence between our activities and the film’s subject. It is exciting to see our daily operations included in this artwork.”

TNT exclusive transport provider for Cristiano Ronaldo’s CR7 Footwear

    Customer Services
3 December 2015 –  TNT has been awarded a contract from the online retailer Portugal Footwear to ship the full range of Cristiano Ronaldo’s CR7 Footwear to customers worldwide. Introduced in 2015, the CR7 Footwear collection reflects the famous footballer’s passion for style, performance and excellence.

The contract makes TNT the exclusive transport provider for the brand. Almost all CR7 footwear is exported, mainly to the Middle East. All the shoes are made in Portugal. TNT collects the shipments at Portugal Footwear’s logistics centre in Vila Nova de Gaia, in northern Portugal, and delivers them worldwide. The whole range of footwear – from loafers to brogue boots – travels through TNT’s network.

“With TNT’s cooperation we were able to install a system that ensures complete traceability and high efficiency to ship internationally, from the moment customers place orders until the moment they are received,” says João Machado, Operations Director of CR7 Footwear.

For instance, all customs procedures are initiated as soon as a customer places an order, so each shipment can be exported the same day it is collected. When emergency or late collections are required, Portugal Footwear can contact TNT’s drivers directly.

Paulo Gonçalves, CEO of Portugal Footwear, says: “Since day one, TNT has been on the front line, and the most visible face of our online business. In such a sensitive time as the launch of a brand, associated with one of the world’s greatest names, we have to compliment TNT on the fantastic service. If we are growing on a daily basis, that’s in part due to TNT’s overwhelming efficiency.”

TNT offers CO2 neutral domestic express delivery in the Benelux

    Services Sustainability

10 November 2015 – Starting this week, TNT offers its business customers a CO2 neutral shipping option for their documents and parcels within the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg, at no additional charge. This initiative will help SMEs and multinationals reduce their CO2 emissions.

From now on, all TNT domestic shipments within one of these three countries will go through two steps: Firstly, TNT will measure how much CO2 emission is produced when transporting its customers’ consignments. Subsequently, TNT will neutralise this emission with an equivalent amount of Gold Standard CO2 credits.

For international shipments a small fee is charged. Upon request, TNT can issue a yearly certificate on how much CO2 emission their shipments have produced and how TNT has neutralised this on their behalf.

Kris Tirry, Team Leader MPC Group of MPC Industries underlines that CO2 efficiency is high on the agenda of TNT’s customers: “From our headquarters in Gorredijk, we ship millions of products to over 30 countries every year. For the selection of our new distribution channel earlier this year, we strictly checked whether the various transporters match our own corporate social responsibility philosophy. We are pleasantly surprised that TNT does enable us to put flesh on the bones of our own philosophy. It goes without saying that we are very satisfied with our new distribution partner.”

CO2 neutral shipping is part of TNT’s extended range of CO2 services, which also includes tools to measure the emission history per customer and to model future emissions on that basis. After Germany, Benelux is the second European region where TNT offers CO2 services at no additional charge.
